Introducing: Overlooked Ventures š„
Deploying capital into untapped talent through a $50MM venture fund
Iāve been holding in a secret for far too long and itās finally time to share.
ā¦. I STARTED A $50MM VENTURE FUND! š
For the past few years, Iāve been mentoring, advising, and investing in startups and after thousands of meetings with founders and nine angel investments this year, I knew it was time to take it to the next level. So I teamed up with a friend of mine in the startup space, Brandon Brooks, and we started Overlooked Ventures.
Introducing Overlooked Ventures
Overlooked Ventures is a venture capital firm focused on supporting and investing in early-stage companies with one or more historically ignored founders and provide them with capital, resources, and connections to scale their business. Filed as 506(c), Overlooked Ventures Fund I is $50MM pre-seed/seed-stage fund investing in 80ā100 industry-agnostic startups in tech, tech-enabled, and D2C, with check sizes between $150ā250K.
The Overlooked Advantage
We roll-up-our-sleeves. As successful bootstrapped founders ourselves, Brandon and I know what it takes to get on the ground and work for founders.Ā The experience we have ranges from pitch help for future rounds to specific marketing and sales strategy and so much more. And if we donāt know the answer, we arenāt afraid to open our network and find someone who does through our extensive Founderās Network of 100+ investors, operators, experienced professionals as well as our Advisory Board for the fund which includes seasoned VCs and startup mentors: Eric Bahn of Hustle Fund, Marie Rocha of Realist Ventures, McKeever āMacā Conwell of Rarebreed Ventures, Saba Karim of Techstars, and Katelin Holloway of Seven Seven Six.Ā
Waitā¦ but what about Letās Start Up?!
Iām STILL going to be sending out the same style newsletter every Friday as I have been for the past year. The content isnāt changing at all. I will still highlight women founders making moves, share stories of other funds winning, and startup launches people should know about. Itās just now going to be called Overlooked Ventures as a way to continue celebrating and rooting for the founders who have been historically ignored.
Weāre just gettingĀ started
